Faculty and Staff Project Support

The Lindy Center for Civic Engagement is happy to support campus-wide civic engagement activities, ensuring this work is well-resourced around the University and that it aligns with the University's and Lindy Center's values. We invite campus partners, including faculty, staff, and fellow campus officers, to let us know about your civic engagement activities and to ask us what we can offer to enhance your work, even if it is not initiated through our office. We can support in the following ways, and are also open to other ideas:

  • Advising in best practices for civic engagement, including combining elements of learning, responsible engagement, and reflection into their service projects and other projects. For example, if your campus office is planning a group volunteer activity for staff engagement, we may suggest and help with designing a pre-service workshop to put the activity into context and a post-service reflection to make meaning from the experience. This kind of support depends on our capacity and your group's needs.
  • For faculty, our expertise in Community-Based and Engaged Learning (CB/EL) pedagogy makes us an ideal partner for course development. We offer trainings, workshops, and resources to faculty looking to use this pedagogy, assistance with community partnerships, logistical support for courses, help with development of research, scholarship and publishing, and more.
  • Creating opportunities to highlight your work by collaborating with us on events or news stories
  • Use of our technological resources, such as our civic engagement database which can help you manage volunteer events, including sign-ups, attendance, and hours tracking for members of your office or class
  • Allowing use of our office space for events, workshops, service activities, etc. [link to Event Space and Lending Library]
  • Assisting you in connecting with fellow faculty, staff, and students who can build your project capacity, community organizations, and/or our colleagues in University & Community Partnerships, including the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships and Writers Room.

If you're interested in anything described above and/or you have other ideas of how Lindy Center could help you, please reach out to us at LindyCenter@drexel.edu with more information about what you're working on!
