A Communal Dream
These students focused on income inequality and poverty. Their project is a Monopoly-style game board game that shows factors that contribute to poverty. The students wrote up the following narrative about their project:
"Our project revolved around issues that resonated with each of the members when we thought about the American dream and how many struggles lined the path. We consider community outreach and involvement incredibly important to resolve the issues we chose to display. Issues that concerned us were veteran issues, college affordability, and just general unaffordability in everyday life. We want to share this work most of all with students and veterans alike so they know that their struggles are valid and reaching out to the people around you can make all the difference.
We centered a hand passing a metaphorical American dream to another hand as we believe that is the only way for America and its struggling communities to prosper. Change has to come from keeping those at the bottom in mind who will eventually inherit this country. These issues are incredibly relevant to our group as we all strive towards our individual goals and dreams."
