Windows Hello system requirements
If your Drexel-owned Windows device does not meet these requirements, you may not be able to set up Windows Hello on your device.
Operating system |
Your device must be running Windows 11 or Windows 10, version 21H2 or later. Learn how to get the latest Windows update from Software Center. |
TPM |
A TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip is a secure crypto-processor on your device that's designed to provide security-related functions. A TPM is used by services like Windows Hello, BitLocker encryption, and others. Learn more about TPM.
The odds are that your Drexel-owned Windows device already has a TPM.

Domain membership |
Your device must be joined to the Drexel domain. |
Device registration |
Your device must be registered and actively reporting into Drexel’s device management tools. |
Feature-specific requirements
Windows Hello biometric authentication features require specific hardware. Windows devices without biometric sensors can use Windows Hello with a PIN.
Facial recognition |
Built-in or external infrared (IR) camera. |
Fingerprint recognition |
Built-in or external fingerprint reader. |
