    • Update on Incidents in London, Paris and Brussels

      The Office of International Programs is following carefully news related to the two vehicular attacks that occurred in London at the Finsbury Park Mosque and in Paris on the Champs-Elysees as well as an incident in Brussels Central Station. Local police reaction in all three cities was swift and effective. Drexel travelers in these cities were not directly impacted by the events. However, these troubling events are a reminder to all Drexel travelers that acts of violence can occur indiscriminately and travelers should exercise caution, register in STEP and follow advice of host institutions and local partners.


    • Update on London Incidents

      Yesterday's events in London involving a van hitting pedestrians on the London Bridge and the stabbing of several people in Borough Market have been identified as a terrorist attack. Seven people were killed and over 50 people were injured. The well being of all known Drexel travelers in London has been confirmed and travelers have been reminded of resources available and safety and security precautions.

      The Office of International Programs is carefully monitoring news of three incidents this evening in London: one on London Bridge; one at Vauxhall and one at Borough Market. At least one fatality has been reported. It is unclear if the incidents are related. Drexel is currently conducting welfare checks with all known travelers in London.


    • UPDATE: UK THREAT ALERT LOWERED

      The UK government has lowered its threat alert from critical to substantial following investigations after the Manchester attack on Monday. Regardless of the threat alert, Drexel travelers should maintain a high level of awareness regarding their safety and security.


    • UPDATE: MANCHESTER INCIDENT, UK THREAT ALERT RAISED

      May 22, 2017

      Following the tragic attack at a concert venue in Manchester, UK that resulted in 22 deaths and many injuries, the UK government has raised its threat warning from substantial to critical. Drexel did not have any known travelers in Manchester and has reached out to travelers in the UK, encouraging proactive safety and security measures. The Office of International Programs is actively monitoring updates from the UK.


    • UPDATE: TRAVEL ALERT FOR EUROPE

      May 01, 2017

      The US Department of State has issued a Travel Alert for Europe, highlighting the continuing risk of terrorist attacks in European countries, especially in the upcoming months when summer travel to Europe is high. Drexel travelers to Europe should review the alert and register their travel in STEP


    • UPDATE: INCIDENT IN PARIS

      April 20, 2017

      The Office of International Programs is closely following news of the shooting of three police officers on the Champs-Elysees in Paris, France. One officer is reported dead and the assailant was killed by law enforcement. The area has been cleared. The University has reached out to all known travelers in the city with information about the incident and guidance. The University will continue to monitor the situation.

      The Office of International Programs is monitoring news of a truck attack that killed four in downtown Stockholm. The University does not have any known travelers in the city.

      The Office of International Programs is monitoring news of a deadly explosion in a metro station in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Drexel does not have any known travelers in the city.


    • UPDATE: INCIDENT IN LONDON

      March 22, 2017

      The Office of International Programs is monitoring news reports about the incident today in London involving a motorist who drove into people on Westminster Bridge before attempting to attack the UK Houses of Parliament. Four deaths and over forty injuries have been reported. British police and counter-terrorism agents responded quickly and effectively to the event. Drexel has accounted for the well being of all known travelers in London. OIP will continue to follow the situation and work closely with its partners in London and elsewhere as Drexel prepares for the arrival of Study Abroad and International Co-op participants on Spring term programs.
