    • Holiday Alerts for Europe

      December 12, 2018

      Drexel travelers to Europe are reminded of the recent alerts issued by many US embassies in Europe recommending increased caution during the holiday season in holiday markets, crowded shopping areas and attractions. Drexel travelers registered in STEP will receive alerts directly from the local embassy. Drexel did not have any known travelers in Strasbourg, France, the site of a December 11 incident in a Christmas market. 


    • Protests in Paris

      December 01, 2018

      Drexel International Health, Safety and Security has been monitoring closely the "Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vests)" protests in Paris that have taken a violent turn in weekend events in Paris and have spread to other parts of France. Drexel travelers in the region have been advised to avoid the protests, follow the guidance of local authorities and monitor local news for updates. 


    • Ongoing Disturbance in Copenhagen

      September 21, 2018

      Drexel IHSS is following closely news about ongoing violent gang activity in the area of Nørrebro and Copenhagen Northwest. The US Embassy in Denmark released a security alert regarding the recent troubles in this area. Drexel travelers in the region have been advised to avoid the affected areas or practice increased caution in these neighborhoods.


    • Typhoon Mangkhut

      September 16, 2018

      Drexel International Health, Safety and Security has been following closely Typhoon Mangkhut as it travels through the region including the Philippines, Hong Kong and South China.  Drexel travelers in the region were alerted to the major storm earlier in the week, and all known Drexel travelers in the region have checked in as safe. 


    • Protests in Lesotho

      August 15, 2018

      Drexel International Health, Safety and Security is monitoring demonstrations taking place in Maseru, Lesotho which have resulted in clashes between government security and protesters. Drexel travelers currently in the region have not been affected by the protests and have been advised to avoid the demonstrations. 


    • Westminster Incident in London

      August 14, 2018

      Drexel International Health, Safety and Security is monitoring news of a car-ramming incident that occurred this morning at Westminster in London where three people were injured. No Drexel travelers are involved in the incident. Local police and authorities responded quickly to address the situation with reported plans for increased visual police presence in the London area.  


    • Ebola Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo

      August 08, 2018

      Drexel International Health Safety and Security is monitoring carefully the ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The outbreak is in North Kivu, in northeastern DRC and is a heavily populated area with frequent cross-border travel into Rwanda and Uganda. The DRC Ministry of Health is working closely with partner including the WHO and the CDC to address the situation. Currently, there are no Drexel travelers in the DRC. 


    • Worldwide Caution

      July 02, 2018

      As part of its ongoing efforts to provide citizens with safety and security information for international travel, the US Department of State has updated its Worldwide Caution. Drexel travelers are encouraged to review carefully the advisory and to register their travel in STEP.
