Hazard Communication

Communication of hazards is essential to ensure a safe work and learning environment. Clinical locations that handle biological materials must communicate the hazards to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. The biohazardous label must be placed on the following:

  • Entrance door
  • Equipment that has come in contact with infectious agents. For example, biological safety cabinets, centrifuges, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, etc.
  • Infectious waste disposal containers
  • Sharps containers

Additional information can be found in the Clinical Safety Manual.
