DAPME: Drexel Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Employees
Our Mission
Welcome to DAPME: Drexel Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Employees! Our primary mission as a colleague resource group at Drexel University is to facilitate community and fellowship through social, professional, and cultural exchanges among Drexel employees of Asian, Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern descent and their allies, advocates and supporters.
Our Vision
DAPME envisions an inclusive, welcoming, vibrant and supportive community for its membership that is cultivated through gatherings that may celebrate cultural festivities and programs, feature guest speakers on themes crucial to the wider Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern community, expand employee networks and enhance fellowship among its members.
Professionally, DAPME aims to support membership through programs such as mentorship, workshops, resource speakers and other relevant employee development pathways.
In instances where the Asian, Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern communities may face discrimination, hate, or bigotry as they did during national phenomena such as Islamophobia or anti-Asian hate during the COVID pandemic, DAPME strives to be a safe space for solidarity and support for its membership and will seek to be the voice for membership concerns and aspirations.
For the Drexel and Philadelphia communities, DAPME will organize relevant programming to educate all on the diverse and pluralistic cultures and ways of knowing and experiencing, achievements and contributions of APM communities in the U.S. and the world.
