Sharrelle Barber, ScD, an assistant research professor in the Dornsife School of Public Health, was quoted in an April 7 New York Times article about black Americans facing alarming rates of coronavirus infection in some areas of the United States.
“It’s not biological," Barber said. "It’s really these existing structural inequalities that are going to shape the racial inequalities in this pandemic.”
This story was picked up by WTVR-TV (CBS, Richmond, Virginia) and other television stations nationwide. Barber was also quoted in an Arizona Republic article that was published by USA TODAY, the Detroit Free Press and other Gannett newspapers nationwide.
