Program Options and Fees
Below is an outline of the three available student support tiers. If you are unsure which tier is best for you or your student, you're encouraged to reach out to CAN@drexel.edu.
Support Tiers
These services offer the highest level of support to a student and include both group and individual components.
- Tier I Student Candidate: Students who need intensive, one-to-one, educational, and social support. These are typically incoming first-year and transfer students. If a student needs Tier I services beyond their first year, recommendations will be on a case-by-case basis.
- Services in Tier I include:
- Weekly individual sessions with the student.
- Weekly dedicated study time (minimum of 2 hours).
- Weekly group sessions (minimum of 2 hours).
- Weekly prep with the student to review assignments and monitor progress toward goals.
- Connecting students to campus resources (counseling, tutoring, etc.).
- Preparation for employment (mock interviews, job searches, completing applications, etc.).
These services include group and individual components but occur in less frequency than at the Tier I level.
- Tier II Student Candidate: These services are typically for second year students.
- Services in Tier II include:
- Bi-weekly individual sessions with the student.
- Group sessions (minimum of once a month).
- Weekly prep with the student to review assignments and monitor progress toward goals.
- Preparation for employment (mock interviews, job searches, completing applications, etc.).
- Employment observations (job shadows, informational interviews, etc.).
These are individual services offered to students that include regular check-ins and referrals to appropriate resources/services.
- Tier III Student Candidate: These services are typically for a student in the third year and beyond.
- Services in Tier III include:
- Individual sessions as needed by the student, or at a minimum of once a month, to support progress towards graduation and professional employment.
- Preparation for employment (mock interviews, job searches, completing applications, etc.).
- Employment observations (job shadows, informational interviews, etc.).
This service is provided in conjunction with the College Resources for Success course and Tiers I–III and is not a standalone service.
- Orientation Candidate: This service is for a student going on co-op for the first time.
- Services in Orientation include:
- Individual sessions to review general job tasks.
- Provide coordination at a worksite (if necessary).
- Monitoring to ensure the student is meeting expectations of the worksite and has the supports necessary to be successful.
- Teaching skills and reinforcing skills.
Financial Support
Our fees are charged directly to your student account. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies often provide financial support to cover some or all of the CAN fee. If you are eligible, or believe you may be eligible, contact your local Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to inquire. View a list of state VR agencies. You may also email CAN@drexel.edu to request information about possible financial assistance options.
