Drexel Writing and Tutoring Centers Open in Korman

Korman Center at Drexel University

July 23, 2019

Drexel students now have access to a one-stop shop for academic support with Drexel’s new Writing and Tutoring Centers! In May, several of Drexel’s academic tutoring centers moved to the Korman Center, co-locating to support student academic success. Read on to learn more about these resources — and how you can take advantage of them!

Why Visit the Writing and Tutoring Centers?

“Students should ideally know about the Math Resource Center from day one! Faculty remind them about it, but unfortunately some students visit for the first time during exams. Students who visit the center from day one have been able to improve their grade by a whole letter grade.”
- Sobha Philip, graduate program manager of math

“Many students (and even faculty and staff) assume that writing centers are solely for correcting grammar and remediation. Prior to becoming a peer reader at the Drexel Writing Center, I believed this as well. I've since learned that there's much more to writing centers and the work they do. Peer readers train extensively to learn a new way of thinking so that they can help their peers to grow as writers and thinkers in the long run, rather than help them fix a few grammatical errors in the moment.”
- Heather Heim, BA English ’20

“In the Chemistry Tutoring Resource Center, students can get assistance with laboratory reports, online homework, or just understanding the material presented in class. They are also welcome to come to the center to do work on their own, and if questions come up, they can easily ask for clarification or help on the content.”
- Craig McClure, PhD, associate professor of chemistry
