Are you looking to develop teaching skills for higher education? If so, the Certificate in College Teaching may be right for you.

Drexel University’s non-credit Certificate in College Teaching will provide you with the experience and credentials you need to become a more effective college instructor or to prepare you for a career outside academia that involves training or teaching.

This non-credit certificate is designed for participants with a range of teaching experiences. It has the flexibility to meet the needs of our diverse participants and to provide a structure within which participants can develop pedagogical skills and best practices and formally document their professional development. The completion of this program recognizes participants’ commitment to effective teaching and culminates in the development of a teaching philosophy and a micro-teaching experience.

Eligibility Requirements

• Current graduate student or postdoc at Drexel University
• Graduation date (end of postdoctoral position) – Spring 2023 or beyond ​(Unfortunately, students graduating before June 2023 are not eligible to apply)
• No teaching experience required
  

Program Requirements

• Complete five required asynchronous mini-courses.
• Participate in two additional teaching workshops of your choice and submit a written reflection about your experiences.
• Meet three times with an assigned teaching mentor to reflect on your experience.
• Complete a reflective statement about your experience in the program.
• Submit a Teaching Philosophy.

Time Commitment

Each 1-week mini-course is offered asynchronously. The mini-courses include reading materials, video lectures, and a VoiceThread discussion. The time commitment for each course is approximately 3 hours. Participants need to complete all five mini-courses. See more information in the attached program description.

Application Process

By applying, you agree to participate in the mini-courses and submit relevant assignments. To apply, you will submit an application form by August 21, 2022. Please review the application requirements on the program website before you start your application.
