I am studying how cities establish social norms with their citizens through public awareness campaigns. Specifically, my thesis examines how city administrators design and administer Vision Zero outreach campaigns to promote traffic safety among motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians in Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Through this research, I hope to better understand how cities and citizens interact to create a shared social contract of agreed upon norms that govern everyday life.
