Stay Safe Kids
Supported by the U.S. Department of Justice
Project led by:
Amanda Lannie, PhD, BCBA-D
Janet Sloand, EdD
Schools today must be prepared to engage in safety planning and must teach their students how to stay safe. With support from a grant through the U.S. Dept of Justice, this project will develop a curriculum to guide schools in their safety planning efforts. Utilizing developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed practices, the curriculum will be designed for delivery by school staff to teach all students how to respond to situations at school and maintain their safety.
With the help of non-profit Safe and Sound Schools, the project will undergo a rigorous development process through collaboration with participating schools, pilot testing, and continuous improvement and refinement of the curriculum over the course of three years. At the end of the project will be a fully-developed curriculum that is suitable for replication and sustainable implementation across schools.
