Participant Expectations

  • Applicants who accept an offer to participate in the Institute are expected to remain during the entire period of the program and to participate in its work on a full-time basis. If a participant has special circumstances that require them to arrive after the beginning of the Institute, or depart before the end of the Institute, they will receive a pro rata share of the $2,850 stipend.
  •  To be eligible to receive the full stipend you must:
    • Attend all virtual sessions (20 total) and residential sessions (10 total).
    • Curate and upload your curricular project, the HHH Playlist, to the Blackboard learning platform. The unit plan should be relevant to you, your students, your community, and useful for educator across the country who teach in similar institutional contexts.
    • Submit an electronic program evaluation upon the conclusion of the Institute.

How Will We Choose?

We are looking to recruit a diverse cohort of secondary English and History teachers who come from different backgrounds, geographic locations, institution types, and career experiences. Five spaces will be reserved for early-career educators who have been teaching for five years or less. We are particularly interested in how you will apply what you learn to your own context. When completing the application, we encourage you to clearly describe what you hope to get out of the Institute, as well as what you may be able to contribute to our community.
