Effective May 1, 2018, the Office of Research will no longer require COEUS records for Non-Competing Continuations and Budget Revisions. Yes, you read that correctly. You no longer need to stay awake at night riddled with anxiety about all of those Coeus records that you have on your to-do list.

Non-Competing Continuations will be set-up in COEUS by Pre-Award for the full amount anticipated with the first year being listed as an active award in the COEUS award module and all future years listed as pending. When the sponsor issues an award notice for the next period of funding, Pre-Award will mark that period as active and make any necessary adjustments when the notice of award for that year comes in before moving it to  Research Accounting Services (RAS) for set-up in Banner.

Budget Revisions will be set-up in the COEUS award module by Pre-Award based on the funding amount listed in the notice of award before moving it to RAS for set-up in Banner. If a budget revision is required in Banner, RAS will reach out directly to the department. Any changes requested at that point will not involve changing the COEUS record.

Cheers to reducing administrative burden!
