Renewals

Effective April 21, 2021, all new protocols must be submitted using DragonSPOT. Please note the submission deadlines and the review processes will remain unchanged.

All animal use protocols and amendments must be submitted for Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) review.

Triannual Reviews

IACUC protocols are approved for a maximum three-year period. A New Protocol Submission Form needs to be completed and submitted PRIOR to expiration. The recommendation is to submit the protocol two months in advance of the expiration date to avoid any potential issues that may lead to a lapse in IACUC approval.

If a renewal application is not reviewed and approved by the IACUC PRIOR to the expiration date of the protocol, the protocol will be terminated. No animal work may be performed on a protocol in the absence of IACUC approval. All animals still associated with a protocol that has expired must be transferred to the IACUC orphan protocol until a renewal protocol is approved.

Note: It is the responsibility of the principal investigator to ensure these protocol renewal submissions are submitted with adequate time for review and approval. While the Office of Research will continue to send reminder emails, the principal investigator should be aware of impending end dates and expiration dates for all approved protocols.
