This announcement was sent to faculty and staff by the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement and Undergraduate Affairs on December 15, 2021.

Dear Colleagues,

To provide increased flexibility for students’ progress to degree completion, the undergraduate Course Repeat and Academic Standing policies have been updated, effective with the Fall 2021 term.

Course Repeat

Undergraduate students are now granted expanded opportunities to raise their GPA by repeating courses for credit. Undergraduates may now repeat a course with an earned grade of C- or lower up to two additional times. Upon successful completion of the course, the lower letter grade(s) will no longer be factored into term and cumulative GPA calculations. Additionally, students may repeat up to ten total courses with the GPA adjustment in their plans of study, an increase from the previous limit of four courses.

Academic Standing

Undergraduate students are now granted an extra quarter of probationary time before academic dismissal. Undergraduates may be on probation for a maximum of four consecutive terms before they are academically dismissed from the University, an increase of the previous limit of three terms.
