Drexel Benefits Dependent Verification Audit

Drexel is committed to offering employees and their eligible dependents best-in-class and affordable health coverage. As healthcare costs continue to rise each year, Drexel has a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that only eligible dependents continue to receive medical, dental and vision coverage through Drexel’s plans. Inadvertently covering ineligible dependents directly translates to increased costs for Drexel, and subsequently for Drexel’s employees.

To ensure the accuracy of Drexel University’s benefit plans and to comply with plan requirements, beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, we will be partnering with the Drexel University Benefits Center, powered by the University’s benefits administrator, WEX, to conduct a dependent verification audit.

This audit ensures that benefit-eligible employees with dependents covered under Drexel-sponsored benefit plans meet the defined eligibility requirements. The audit helps maintain fair and compliant benefit coverage for all employees.

If you currently have dependents enrolled in the University’s medical, dental, and/or vision plans, you will be required to submit documentation to verify their eligibility no later than June 30, 2026.

On June 1, you will receive detailed communications from WEX outlining:

  • Which dependents need to be verified
  • The types of documentation that are acceptable (for example, marriage certificates or birth certificates, copy of most recent tax return)
  • How and where to submit your documents
  • Submission deadlines

Please be sure you have emails from WEX unblocked, so you don’t miss these important notices.

Failure to provide the required documentation by the June 30, 2026, deadline will result in the removal of unverified dependents from coverage. COBRA will not be offered for dependents who lose coverage as a failure to comply with the audit.

If you have questions, please contact the Drexel University Benefits Center at 844.690.3992. Representatives are available from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST to assist you.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to maintain the integrity of our benefits program.
