Let's Spring Into Action
March 28, 2016
The Spring quarter marks the third term of Drexel's academic year, heralding not only warmer weather and budding flowers on campus, but also continued intellectual and professional growth. Last term, I invited everyone to stay tuned for new developments here at Goodwin College in the graduate-level realm. At this time, we are thrilled to announce that our Master of Science in Professional Studies program is being revived. To oversee its updated curriculum, we are proud to bring on board a new Director of Graduate Studies, Anne Willkomm. Anne is joining us March 28, having previously served as the Director of the Graduate Publishing program at Rosemont College. We look forward to new leadership providing fresh outlooks and collaborations within our office, as we also begin to expand our space in Suite 369 of Gerri C. LeBow Hall.
On a bittersweet note, our inaugural class of Drexel Explorers is diving into their final quarter with us, preparing to fulfill their objective of a smooth transition into a degree program that best suits their academic and career goals. Although we'll miss our very first cohort of the First-Year Exploratory Studies program, we're eager to see who will enroll into our 2016-2017 class in the coming months.
Over on the continuing education side, this May we'll kick off a partnership with Sales Evolution to provide a six-month on-campus and online hybrid course, Mastering the Art of Strategic Selling. In addition, we are working with LeBow College of Business's Institute for Strategic Leadership to offer an executive workshop solely for women. Opportunities for Lean Six Sigma and Project Management will continue to meet the demands for non-credit professional courses.
The culmination of the Spring quarter will naturally lead to Commencement, which has been redesigned this year on both the university and college level for a more unified experience. Goodwin's ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, June 9, 2016, 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM in Mandell Theater, followed by a university reception held on Lancaster Walk. I very much hope our community joins us to celebrate the achievements of our students, especially those realizing their dreams of completing a degree of higher learning for the first time.
As always, I'd like to extend my sincere thanks for your hard work. I wish you all great success as we look ahead toward the upcoming quarter. Now let's hop to it.
