JT Thazhathel is a finance director at the Wharton School and has over 10 plus years of experience in the areas of finance, accounting and analytics. He is responsible for the operating budget, financial analysis and modeling for various departments and centers within the Wharton School. He serves as the finance lead and manages the financial and operational planning for various initiatives, programs and projects and provides strategic recommendations to senior leadership at Wharton.
Prior to joining Wharton, JT was on the health system side of the university, working for Penn Medicine (University of Pennsylvania Health System) in Corporate Finance within the Budget, Capital and Statistics team. He was responsible for analyzing current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, expenses and capital, providing ad-hoc analysis with reporting, fiscal allocation, and budget development for the multiple hospital entities within the health system and developing financial models, projections and analyses to support strategic initiatives and new ventures for senior management.
JT received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) from Drexel University as well as his Master of Business Administration (Finance). JT has been an Adjunct Professor at Drexel University, teaching at the LeBow College of Business and the Goodwin College of Professional Studies within the Non-Profit Management program.
Outside of work and teaching, his passions include cars, motorcycles, playing Call of Duty and the Philadelphia Eagles.
