Vuyokazi Mbutho | South Africa Vuyo Mbutho is a black woman living a transgender experience and has over 10 years of experience in human rights activism. Currently, Vuyo is a Northwest provincial coordinator at Access Chapter 2, an international LGBTQI+ organization focusing on inclusive health care, psychosocial support, and the protection of the rights of LGBTQI+ individuals, women, and children. Vuyo is currently an executive member of the South African Trans Advocacy Group, deputy chairperson of Lejweleputswa District Aids Council, and has various leadership roles. Vuyo is driven by her passion for inclusive health care and higher education systems. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Vuyo plans to come back to implement what she has learned to better the work that her current organization is doing and looks to establish her own non-profit organization which will focus on improving access to institutions of higher learning and health services for transgender individuals in rural South Africa.
