Milicent Tshuma | Zimbabwe

Millicent Tshuma has over 10 years of experience in civic leadership with the LGBTIQ+ community.  Currently, Millicent is the founder and executive director at Sisters in Systematic Transformation Agenda, focused on reinforcing the equality of women through lobbying for gender visibility and creating platforms that amplify the voices of LBQ women.  They have volunteered with National AIDS Council for five years under the young people's network and currently serves as the alumni advisor.  Millicent holds a diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication.  Millicent is driven by the desire to create a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ people to thrive in Zimbabwe.  Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Millicent plans to strengthen the LGBTIQ+ space to develop creative approaches to social change and challenge stereotypes, educate the public, celebrate resilience, and build a more hopeful future.
