Edna Candida Kanganjo | Angola

Edna Kanganjo has five years of experience in the medical field and is currently serving as a doctor at the Angola Health Ministry.  Edna has a medical degree and is motivated by a desire to assist people in need, particularly those with cleft lips and palates, with the goal of eliminating stigma and restoring smiles.  In addition to her clinical role, she is a devoted volunteer at Smile Train, where she has been working since 2019 to raise awareness about cleft lip and palate conditions and advocate for accessible corrective surgeries.  Following the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Edna plans to manage projects aimed at preventing cleft lip and palate conditions using simple yet effective strategies.  Her ultimate goal is to improve access to corrective surgeries while taking into account the country's unique challenges and realities.
