Jonathan Chase
Jon Chase was appointed Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities in October 2025 after 25 years as a valued leader within Drexel’s Real Estate and Facilities team. As Vice President, he oversees planning, design and construction; plant operations; environmental health and radiation safety; real estate; space management; and transportation services for Drexel's campuses.
Jon joined Drexel in 2000 as the founding director of the Environmental Health and Safety department (EHS) upon Drexel’s acquisition of MCP Hahnemann University. Jon was promoted to Executive Director in 2012 and again to Assistant Vice President of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety in 2020. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Jon led Drexel’s operational response, including ventilation assessments, occupancy modeling, and developing strategies for reopening campus in collaboration with the city and partners across the University.
During his 25 years of service at Drexel, Jon has managed complex academic and research infrastructure, led emergency response, and supported capital planning, playing a key role in major development and renovation projects undertaken by Drexel and its third-party development partners, including the Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building, Gerri C. LeBow Hall, Health Sciences Building and many more. As campus space usage shifted over the years, Jon’s team safely and successfully decommissioned and relocated over 500 research laboratories.
Jon earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Drexel, and his master’s in environmental health from Temple University’s College of Engineering. Prior to joining Drexel, Jon founded and operated Brown Environmental Services Corp., a full-service environmental engineering firm. Later, he also served as a founding partner of multi-state recycling firm National Paper Recycling, LLC.
