Student Funding for Professional Development and Public Health Conferences
Each year, Dornsife's Office of Education provides a limited amount of funding to students for professional development and conference opportunities in the field of public health.
These opportunities allow students to present their research, learn more about advancements and lessons learned in public health, meet other graduate students, and network with leaders in the field of public health.
Undergraduate and master’s students at Dornsife may request funding from the Office of Education for conference and professional development travel by completing the Career Services Travel Subsidy. Doctoral students are not eligible for this award.
Given the number of requests and the limited financial resources that the department has, please understand that not all requests will be honored. Priority will be given to students who are near the end of their program, who have not requested funding from the department before, and who submit requests with significant advance notice.
The intention of the travel subsidy is to provide supplemental funding for the following types of expenses: conference and registration fees, lodging expenses, or transportation expenses (air, rail, or shuttle). Requests for auto-rental, mileage, tolls, parking, ride sharing or taxi services, and/or meal funding are not eligible.
How to Request Funding
Please complete the request form and describe your professional development or conference opportunity:
Travel Subsidy Request Form
The form will ask you to provide the following information:
- Detailed budget
- Summary of work to be presented
- Proof of acceptance
Criteria for Requests
The maximum level of support that Career Services provides is $200. Please note that funding is limited and is not guaranteed, so applicants should consider alternative sources of funding as denoted on the Dornsife DASH student funding page. Please review the travel subsidy request form for all eligibility requirements and criteria for submission.
Reimbursements are processed after your attendance of the approved opportunity.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but students are highly encouraged to apply within 2 weeks of being notified that their abstract was accepted. Applications will not be accepted after event has passed.
Upon conclusion of the event, you will be asked to share photos and a review. This information may be shared on the School’s website, social media accounts, publications, or in reports to leadership.
Please send the completed request form to Michelle Quigley and direct any questions to Michelle.
