For Investigators in NIH’s Autism Initiative, Funding Comes With a ‘Big Spotlight’

Kristen Lyall, ScD, a chair and professor in the Dornsife School of Public Health, was quoted in an Aug. 20 Science article about the Autism Data Science Initiative (ADSI), which launched in September 2025 and funds roughly a dozen research projects that explore possible environmental causes of autism using large data sets.
"People felt it’s important to be at the table and to be part of the cautious and responsible interpretation of findings,” said Lyall, who leads one of the projects, which looks at the role diet plays in autism's development.
