Health Experts Try to Bridge Information Divide as COVID Numbers Climb in Latinx Community

Alex Ortega, PhD, a professor and director of the Center for Population Health and Community Impact in the Dornsife School of Public Health, was quoted in a July 14 WVUE-TV (FOX- New Orleans) story on the pandemic’s toll on the Latinx community.

"Some of those messages aren't being delivered in appropriate languages like Spanish or culturally targeted to certain communities," said Ortega. "Especially for undocumented and immigrant populations many of them are unaware of what local public health departments and other organizations provide."
