Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We currently accept all Aetna insurances (except Aetna Medicare) and expect to be in-network with additional providers starting in January 2025. If you have questions or concerns about fees, please view our Fee Information, or contact the WELL Clinic directly at wellclinic@drexel.edu.

Treatment sounds like it could get expensive. Is it worth it?

Treatment is a financial investment and a personal investment- an investment in yourself and in moving towards the life that you want for yourself. Oftentimes there are barriers that get in the way and make it difficult to reach goals on our own. Our therapists have been specifically trained in helping you to identify and work through those barriers so that you can be successful. Treatment for eating and weight disorders requires specialty knowledge and training. By seeking treatment at The WELL Clinic, you are seeking treatment that has been supported by research to be the most effective in helping you to reach your goals. Moving towards the future that you want is always worth it.

What types of treatments do you offer?

The WELL Clinic offers individual outpatient therapy and group outpatient therapy. Our clinicians offer treatments that have been shown to be the most effective in obtaining and sustaining long-term recovery. These treatments include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Treatments, Family-Based Treatment, and Acceptance-Based Behavioral Treatments. The American Psychological Association supports the use of forms of treatments that have research support.

Learn more about the research support for your concern

I’m concerned about my child, I’m not sure if (s)he has an eating disorder, are there any resources that you would recommend?

If you are concerned about your child, trust your parental instincts and give us a call at 215.553.7500 or e-mail us at wellclinic@drexel.edu to learn how we can help you to navigate your concerns.

The best thing that you can do as a parent is learn more about what your child is struggling through. There are excellent resources for parents, including the following:

  • Book: “Help Your Teenager Beat an Eating Disorder” by James Lock, MD, PhD & Daniel Le Grange, PhD
  • National Eating Disorders Association Resources: nationaleatingdisorders.org/parent-toolkit
  • Families Empowered and Supporting Treatment for Eating Disorders (F.E.A.S.T.): feast-ed.org

What additional support options do you offer if individual therapy doesn’t feel like enough?

Oftentimes the combination of individual treatment and group treatment can help individuals to make more rapid progress. Please talk to your clinician about our current group offerings. Group therapy provides an important supplement to individual treatment by allowing for greater access to social support and alternative perspectives to understand yourself better. It can be validating and necessary to know that you are not alone in your struggle and that others can relate to you. Our current rate for group therapy is $60 per 60-minute group session. Our office can also provide you with a preferred referral list for other services such as nutritional support, medication management, and options for higher levels of care. Please inquire with a member of our team for additional information.
