Over the past decade, the history of intellectual property has
developed into a dynamic field of study. However, the
internationalization of patent systems remains under-examined, despite
its major importance in the global economy, as highlighted by the
Covid-19 crisis. This research explores the initial phase of patent
systems internationalization, beginning with the 1883 Paris
Convention—an effort to harmonize diverse national patent cultures—and
extending through the early 1950s, a period marked by the global
reconfiguration following the Second World War.
