Bio

Dr. Rosen is an associate professor and leads the Ecological and Evolutionary Signal-processing and Informatics (EESI) Laboratory.

The EESI pursues four major projects:

  • Developing new methods and technologies to mine metagenomic data to study the human microbiome and environmental samples
  • Developing databases to investigate evolutionary mechanisms
  • Investigating chemical source localization
  • Innovative engineering education in graduate, undergraduate, and K12 education

Gail Rosen received a BS, MS, and PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is a recipient of an NSF CAREER award, a Drexel Faculty Career Development award, and a Louis and Bessie Stein Fellowship award. She serves on the editorial board of the BMC Microbiome journal and as an associate editor of EURASIP Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. Dr. Rosen serves as IEEE Philadelphia Section Chapter co-Chair for Signal Processing. Her professional memberships include IEEE, the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, and the Society of Women Engineers.
