NIH OITE Mental Health and Well-Being Series
October 28, 2022
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE) is pleased to offer a FREE series of webinars and supplemental small group discussions to increase awareness and provide coping strategies and tools to help participants support their own mental health and that of others. The series kicks off on Nov. 7 and runs through May 2023.
While this series is geared toward individuals in biomedical research fields, it is open to and relevant for all and all are welcome to register!
In this iteration of the series, we will address nuanced areas of mental health that directly impact the biomedical research field, but that are relevant to all. Studies have found that symptoms of anxiety and depression are linked to other mental health issues such as perfectionism, trauma responses, suicide and numbing behaviors. We will be covering such topics to continue to promote well-being and thriving for the community. Many talks in the series will be followed by a focused "OITE Thriving Thursday" discussion to more deeply explore issues raised in the talk.
Topics include:
- Culture change and wellness
- Trauma and its workplace impact
- Self-awareness strategies for mental health
- Perfectionism
- Addressing numbing behaviors: Breaking unhelpful habits and becoming more present in our own lives
- Suicide awareness and response
- Mental health series wrap up
Visit the series website for the schedule and to register for sessions. Recordings will also be available within 24-48 hours following the webinars.
