Drexel Dance Auditions for 2025-26 Academic Year

The Drexel University Dance Program invites prospective students to audition through either video submission or live audition. Our audition process is designed not only to evaluate technical skill, but to better understand who you are as a dancer, artist, creative thinker, and future community member. We value individuality, curiosity, and collaboration, and we’re excited to learn more about your unique perspective. Whether you choose to audition in person or virtually, we look forward to welcoming you into a vibrant community where dance is both a discipline and a means of connecting. 

Video Audition 

Video submissions will be accepted starting August 1, 2025. Please submit the following videos through Slideroom:

Our primary goal in reviewing your audition video is to gain insight into who you are—both as a dancer and as an individual. We do not expect professionally edited or high-production videos; simple recordings captured on a smartphone or similar device are perfectly acceptable. Part 1: Recorded Interview

Film yourself responding to the following prompts:

1. Why are you applying to the Drexel Dance program? 
2. What role does dance play in your life, and why is it important to you?
3. How would you describe the way you work with others in a dance class, rehearsal, or creative process?
4. Tell us about your involvement in the dance community and any contributions you’ve made to your broader community outside of dance.
5. Where do you see yourself one to three years after graduating from college, and how do you imagine dance playing a role in that future? 

Part II: Audition Phrases

Select any two of the five dance genres below. Either follow the instructions (if you choose ballet) or click on the link (for modern, jazz, hip hop, or West African. Submit a clear, complete video of yourself performing your two selected genres.

a. Ballet

Please provide a video not exceeding 10 minutes. The video must include Barre and Center work. All work at the barre to include one side only

Barre: Plies, Battement Tendus, Battement Jetés, Adage, Grand Battement

Center: Adage, Pirouettes, Petit Allegro, Grand Allegro

b. Modern (video with Val Ifill)

c. Jazz (video with Britt Fishel)

d. Hip-Hop (video with Clyde Evans)

e. West African Pt. 1 + West African Pt 2. (video with Antoinette Coward-Glimore)

Part III: Prepared Solo

Prepare a 90-second solo in any dance form. Use this opportunity to show us who you are and how you love to move. You may use music, text, soundtrack, or silence.

This will include three of the following genres: Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, and West African.

AUDITION DEADLINES FOR ENTERING IN FALL 2026:

• Early decision students must submit materials no later than November 1, 2025

• Regular decision students must submit materials no later than January 15, 2026

• Transfer applicants can submit an audition on a rolling basis
