Meet SOE’s Newest Academic Advisors!

The School of Education’s Office of Student Services recently welcomed four new academic advisors to the advising team. Academic advisors play a critical role in helping students register for classes and complete the requirements for their specific academic degree or certificate. Below is a brief bio for each of the new advisors.
Skylar Gonzalez

About Skylar
Skylar received their Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Education in College Student Personnel Administration at James Madison University. She is passionate about mental health advocacy, community building and social justice through accessible education. Living in the Shenandoah Valley fueled Skylar's appreciation for nature and meditation. Outside of work you can find Skylar painting, cooking vegan and vegetarian dishes, and spending quality time with her cats.
Abbey Inglis

About Abbey
Abbey Inglis is an academic advisor for the BS in Education and BS in Special Education online students at Drexel University. She graduated from Muhlenberg College in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a PA PK-4 Teaching Certificate. Currently, Abbey is pursuing her Masters in Higher Education Leadership at Drexel University and is set to graduate in December 2022. She began her professional career teaching first grade and began working at Drexel in 2019 as an enrollment counselor. She is absolutely loving her new role as an academic advisor for the School of Education! When she is not advising, Abbey enjoys reading, hiking, exercising, and spending time with her friends and family.

About Mario
Mario Stavrev is an academic advisor for the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management program at Drexel University. He graduated from George Washington University. Mario has worked in higher education for almost a decade and has been at Drexel since 2016. When he is not advising, Mario enjoys traveling to new destinations, hiking, exploring new restaurants and spending time with his family, friends and two cats.
Hanna Weckel

About Hanna
Hanna Weckel is excited to be a part of the Drexel School of Education as an academic advisor! She is a Philadelphia native with a background in textile arts, and a bachelor's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduation, Hanna spent a year serving in the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, followed by a year living in Germany. Prior to Drexel, Hannah worked in the Advising Center at University of the Arts. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, cooking, and going on adventures with my dog, Kuh. At the moment, Hanna is pursuing a post-baccalaureate degree in German from Oregon State University.
