POL Faculty Spotlight: Ayana Allen-Handy, PhD
January 12, 2022
1. What is the most current and exciting thing you’re working on this year?
I am most excited about our various projects in the Justice-oriented Youth (JoY) Education Lab. Getting to collaborate with incredible youth and community members as well as working with amazing SOE students, faculty, staff and other colleagues at Drexel on inspiring research and programs brings me great “joy”!
2. What is one thing you are looking forward to this year?
I must say it has been really great being back in person this year. I really enjoy coming into the office and seeing everyone. I’m also really looking forward to attending AERA in person in San Diego, and re-connecting with dear friends and colleagues who I haven’t seen since the pandemic began.
3. What is one fun thing you want the SoE community to know about you?
One of my favorite hobbies is playing the flute, which I’ve been playing since the 4th grade. Most recently, after going to see Hamilton at the Academy of Music last month (which was amazing BTW), I have been learning how to play the Hamilton score; I guess I am not throwing away my shot!
