Dean Nancy Butler Songer Featured in Chronicle of Higher Education
December 8, 2014
Nancy Butler Songer, PhD, dean of Drexel University's School of Education, was featured prominently in a recent article in the Chronicle of Higher Education. The article focused on how deans can change university and college campuses, and why they are usually the people to incite such change.
The article highlights the many roles a dean must fill, and, as a result, why individuals with both significant academic and administrative experience are often the most attractive candidates in national searches. The article points to Dean Songer's previous role as director the Center for Essential Science at the University of Michigan as a prime example of a dean who fills both roles.
The article also discussed Songer's commitment to making a difference outside of Drexel, and engaging School of Education resources to incite change in local communities and beyond.
