Drexel University recognizes the importance of having comprehensive, proactive fire safety and emergency preparedness programs to recognize and evaluate risks; take appropriate steps to eliminate or reduce these risks; and plan, practice and educate to improve institutional and individual responses in the event of an emergency.

The Fire and Emergency Services Unit of the Department of Public Safety works to ensure compliance with the Philadelphia Fire Code and national fire safety standards, building inspections, fire safety education and fire drills, emergency preparedness, and evacuation procedures.
