Dear Colleagues,

As we prepare to observe Memorial Day, we remember, memorialize and honor those who lost their lives while serving our country. It is a time to reflect on and express our gratitude to our active military, our veterans and their families.

Since this weekend also signals the unofficial start to summer, in appreciation of our faculty and professional staff's work and dedication to Drexel, offices can close Friday, May 27, at 2 p.m. to give employees extra time with their families. Your contributions and commitment keep our University strong and united in common purpose.

All student-facing offices must remain open with minimal staffing for the duration of normal operating hours. Other departments may not be able to close due to their unique operational needs and/or collective bargaining agreements. In the event the department must remain open, alternative flextime may be arranged with a supervisor's approval. Details on reporting time for the early closure are available on the Payroll FAQ site.

As we wish all of you a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend, we also send comforting words of support to everyone, including our student-veterans who served, to whom this holiday brings painful reminders of the loss of a loved one, a comrade, or a friend who died in service to our country.

Sincerely,

John Fry
