DrexelNow, the online news room for Drexel University stories, news releases and announcements, was recently rebranded as DrexelNEWS as part of the drexel.edu website redesign that occurred earlier this month. The site’s function as a central news hub for the University hasn’t changed, and it will still be maintained by the Office of University Communications.

The DrexelNEWS name reflects the way most external visitors to Drexel’s website will search for information about the University. DrexelNow is solely the publication name of the digital e-newsletters curated by the Office of University Communications.

Articles published on DrexelNEWS will continue to be shared to Drexel faculty, professional staff, students, parents and families through the DrexelNow e-newsletters and posted on the @DrexelNow Twitter account.

In other words: The name of the landing page for Drexel news content has changed to DrexelNEWS, but nothing else has.

Internal news stories and external news releases will be posted on DrexelNEWS by the Office of University Communications’ publications and media relations teams, respectively. As with the former DrexelNow site, these articles will be categorized as arts and entertainment; science and technology; business and entrepreneurship; health; society and culture; sports; campus and community; diversity, equity and inclusion; experiential learning; global connections; and research.

The media relations team will still update and maintain the DrexelNEWS “In The News” page, which compiles a selection of external news coverage highlighting Drexel experts and initiatives, as well as the “Drexel Experts” section naming notable Drexel faculty available to provide expert analysis, commentary and help external media report on current events. The media relations team is currently working on making updates to photos and other profile information as necessary in this section. The publications team will continue to manage the DrexelNEWS Your News” page, which contains need-to-know information for Drexel faculty and professional staff, students and families.

“We are excited to elevate the way we showcase the stories of students and faculty with the redesign of Drexel’s website and the re-branding of the University’s news site,” said Niki Gianakaris, interim senior vice president of University Communications. “The news site includes resources for media and additional content beyond that published in the DrexelNow e-newsletters. It will serve as a hub of the latest news, stories and events at the University while the DrexelNow e-newsletters will continue to deliver compelling stories to inboxes.”

The website address for DrexelNEWS is drexel.edu/news, and the now-defunct DrexelNow’s Drexel.edu/now website will redirect to DrexelNEWS. A link to DrexelNEWS can also be found on Drexel’s homepage, through the “News” link in the toolbar at the top of the page.

Now that DrexelNEWS has been refreshed with a new name, logo and website, a redesign is in the works for the DrexelNow e-newsletters in the upcoming year.
