Kim Kaelin, a rising 3L, was a winner of a mock trial competition hosted by the office of Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.
A member of the law school’s Trial Team, Kaelin was one of two winners in the week-long competition that featured 11 rising 3Ls from law schools at Drexel, Villanova, Temple, Penn State, Widener and Rutgers universities who completed summer internships in the district attorney’s office.
Rising 3L Robert Waeltz was one of two students who took second place in the competition.
The competition required the students to prosecute a fictitious murder case. Competition rounds were judged by Steele and deputy and assistant district attorneys.
Both Kaelin and Waeltz were certified by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to practice law in Magisterial District Court and the Court of Common Pleas under supervision from assistant district attorneys and staff to handle guilty pleas, summary appeals, probation hearings and other legal proceedings.
