‘10 Alumna Announces Run for Pennsylvania Statehouse

'10 alumna Rachel Fingles

August 19, 2019

Rachel Fingles, ‘10, has announced her candidacy for state representative in Pennsylvania’s 18th legislative district in Bucks County.

A public education advocate with Education Voters PA, Fingles is a director on the Bensalem Township School Board.

Fingles, a Democrat who is challenging a Republican who has held the seat since 1995, was elected to Bensalem’s school board in November 2017. That year marked the start of a wave of female candidates winning elected office—a trend that TIME magazine featured in a January 2018 cover story that included Fingles' photograph.

The Bensalem resident is an advocate for charter school law reform who supports public school funding.
