‘10 Alumna Announces Run for Pennsylvania Statehouse August 19, 2019 Rachel Fingles, ‘10, has announced her candidacy for state representative in Pennsylvania’s 18th legislative district in Bucks County. A public education advocate with Education Voters PA, Fingles is a director on the Bensalem Township School Board. Fingles, a Democrat who is challenging a Republican who has held the seat since 1995, was elected to Bensalem’s school board in November 2017. That year marked the start of a wave of female candidates winning elected office—a trend that TIME magazine featured in a January 2018 cover story that included Fingles' photograph. The Bensalem resident is an advocate for charter school law reform who supports public school funding.
