Associate Dean Susan L. Brooks and Professors Tracye Edwards, Rachel López and Reena Parambath presented at the 2017 Association of American Law Schools Clinical Conference in Denver, Colorado May 7 and 8.
Brooks, the associate dean for experiential learning, presented at a panel entitled “Helping Ourselves, Helping Our Students: The Challenges and Benefits of Infusing a Social Justice Perspective into Everyday Clinical Teaching.” Brooks joined law school faculty from the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford Law School, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and West Virginia University College of Law on the panel.
López, the director of the Community Lawyering Clinic, presented on a panel focused on “Advocacy on Behalf of Communities in Light of Post-Election Needs.” López joined law faculty from the University of Pennsylvania, Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, Temple University and Villanova University on the panel.
Parambath and Edwards joined a panel on “Creating a Core ‘Cultural Competency’ Curriculum for Global Lawyering in Clinics and Externships.” Parambath, the director of the Co-op program, and Edwards, a professor in the program, joined colleagues from Seattle University School of Law, Texas Southern University School of Law and Roger Williams University School of Law on the panel.
