American Constitution Society Honors Drexel Law Chapter

At the annual convention of the American Constitution Society, the Drexel Law chapter received a programming award for organizing a host of events on campus during the last academic year. 

Eric Bergel, ’14, outgoing chapter vice president, Andrew Bull, ’15, incoming chapter president, Kathryne Hemmings, ’15, outgoing chapter president and Andrew Meltzer, ’14, outgoing chapter secretary, accepted the award at the convention in Washington D.C. on June 21.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Columbia Law Professor Theodore Shaw were featured speakers at the convention, which attracts more than 1,000 leading judges, lawyers and policymakers. 

Drexel Law’s chapter organized a wide range of events, including a panel discussion of the death penalty featuring prominent attorneys, a presentation on sexual assaults in the military led by former U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy and a screening of the documentary about anti-abortion violence, “After Tiller.” 

Other chapters receiving the award included Columbia, Duke, Harvard and Stanford.
