If a program participant is unsure whether a potential activity qualifies as high risk, they are obligated to ask their program director for clarification. Participation in an unapproved high-risk activity cannot be justified by failure to seek approval.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
All local motorized transportation must be done with registered and insured transportation options, including public transportation (where available and approved). Students are prohibited from renting cars, flying in private airplanes and helicopters, riding in truck beds and other non-secured areas within motorized vehicles, riding all-terrain vehicles, and riding on or driving motorcycles. Any mode of transportation other than a licensed and insured common carrier or public transportation is prohibited without express written approval from Drexel Global.

WATER SAFETY
There are dangers inherent to any water activity including boating, wading, swimming and snorkeling. Some Drexel programs include pre-approved water activities within the program itinerary. In such cases, Drexel staff will provide marine safety guidelines for local conditions prior to the activity i.e. orientation to tides, currents, water temperatures, site-specific water hazards, marine animals that could pose a risk to students, and relevant weather concerns.

Any student who chooses to swim should never swim alone, should defer to local knowledge regarding swimming safety in various locations, and should limit swimming to non-open water locations where there is a posted lifeguard on duty. Students are prohibited from swimming or entering the water for any reason within 12 hours of consuming any alcohol or if they are intoxicated in any other way.

Any student conducting program-related marine work must stay within 5 meters (roughly 16 feet) of a swimming/snorkeling partner. The partner may be another program student or staff member. Any student who is not feeling well should stay out of the water and speak with a program member onsite. Any student who is required to carry an inhaler must ensure the inhaler is close at hand and that its location is known to the water partner, other students, and staff. Further detailed water safety guidelines for the local context will be covered by program staff onsite when relevant.

FAILURE TO COMPLY

Programs that fail to adhere to high-risk activity rules and regulations will not be approved. Programs that are found out of compliance during or after the completion of the program will be subject to additional vetting on the next iteration of the program. Repeated violations will jeopardize future program approvals.

In accordance with Drexel University student conduct policies, individual participants who fail to adhere to high-risk activity rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, including, but not limited to, lowering of the grade, suspension from the program, removal from the program without refund, and referral to the Dean of Students Office for a student conduct violation.
