Margaret Joan Nafula | Uganda Margaret Joan Nafula has more than eight years of experience in human rights and accounting in Uganda. Margaret is a certified public accountant, human rights advocate, queer feminist, baker, podcaster, LGBTIQ+ activist, and sexual and gender-based violence trainer. She is cofounder and executive director of Queerprism256 podcast, a social podcast and talk show that highlights the day-to-day lives of Ugandan lesbian, bisexual, and queer women and female sex workers. She is also finance director at Kuchu Times Media Group, an LGBTIQ+ media initiative. Margaret envisions a community that views LGBTIQ+ people as normal, media that share stories about LGBTIQ+ issues objectively without bias, and a society that does not criminalize because of sexual orientation and gender identity. Margaret holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Margaret is driven by her passion to advance the rights of LGBTIQ+ persons and women through media, such as podcasts, photography, art, videography, campaigns, and infographics. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Margaret plans to conduct online campaigns, dialogues, and meetings with mainstream media journalists to share information on inclusivity, diversity, intersectionality, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, human rights, and other LGBTIQ+ issues.
