Dingani Daka | Zambia
Dingani Daka has more than five years of experience in the medical profession. He currently works as the acting district health director for Chavuma District of North-Western Province in Zambia, where he coordinates and supervises 275 health workers, including two medical doctors. Dingani holds a bachelor's degree in Human Biology and a bachelor's degree in Surgery and Medicine. At the district level, he addresses reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health services. He worked as liaison officer in Zambia's Incident Management System during a polio outbreak in 2019 and saw successful supplementary immunization activity in all three rounds (0, 1, and 2) against circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 in Chavuma District. The success was verified by World Health Organization independent monitors. Dingani is the current incident commander for the COVID-19 pandemic in Chavuma District. From December 2019 to April 2020, he chaired the Zambia Medical Association, representing all medical doctors in the national executive committee for the North-Western province. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, he aspires to become a public health specialist.
