Daniel Kampsen

Global Safety and Operations

Daniel Kampsen is the Senior Director of Global Safety and Operations at Drexel University. His work focuses on the management and mitigation of risk for all travelers at the University, including incident response, crisis management, site vetting, strategy, policy development, and education of travelers. He is also responsible for global operations, including contract negotiation and management, global work processes, and global solutions. He has worked in international education for 10+ years in roles focusing on global risk, security, operations, program development, and program management. He is the Chairperson of the NAFSA Health and Safety subcommittee and a member of the On-Call Higher Education Advisory Board. He presents regularly in the area of legal duty of care at national and international conferences. Prior to his career in international education, Dan was both a practicing attorney and Fulbright Scholar. He holds the following degrees: B.A. in Political Science from Hope College, M.S. in Management from Boston University, M.Ed. from Ohio University, M.A. in Global Affairs from the University of Denver and a Juris Doctor from the Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. In his free time, Dan enjoys reading fiction, live music, attending film screenings, watching Detroit sports and spending time with his wife Emily and daughter Ellinor.
