Financial Aid Distribution

How Drexel Allocates Financial Aid Funding

The categories below describe how tuition and fees are billed and how the different types of financial aid are distributed to full-time undergraduate students based on their standard plan of study.

Class Terms

Charges  Tuition – Full-time tuition rate billed to students
Fees – General University fees billed to students
Funding   Drexel Financial Aid Awards – Students are eligible for these awards during class terms; the per-term amount remains the same for each of the 12 terms of a student's undergraduate program.
Federal Financial Aid Awards – Students are eligible for federal financial aid awards during both class and co-op terms and are awarded based on the terms of enrollment for the academic year.
Pennsylvania State Financial Aid Awards (PHEAA Grants) – The standard PHEAA Grant is applicable only to fall, winter, and spring terms of class enrollment. Students who are registered during the summer for classes can apply separately for a summer PHEAA Grant.
Private Education Loans – Drexel certifies private education loans on an annual basis to pay over class terms only.

Co-op Terms

Charges  Tuition – Not billed to students during co-op terms
Fees – General University fees billed to students during co-op
Funding   Drexel Financial Aid Awards – Students are ineligible for these awards during co-op terms.
Federal Financial Aid Awards – Students are eligible for federal financial aid awards during both class and co-op terms and are awarded based on the terms of enrollment for the academic year.
Pennsylvania State Financial Aid Awards (PHEAA Grants) – Students are ineligible for these awards during co-op terms.
Private Education Loans – Drexel certifies private education loans on an annual basis to pay over class terms only.

Drexel does have an eligibility exception policy for graduating seniors in their final two terms of enrollment. Please see the Senior Exception for Financial Aid Eligibility for more information.
