Speaker: Yueng‐hsiang (Emily) Huang, PhD

Topic: Development and validation of safety climate scales for lone workers (for the trucking and utility industries)
 
Dr. Yueng‐hsiang (Emily) Huang is a senior research scientist at Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, having joined the Institute in 2001. She received her PhD in Industrial‐Organizational Psychology/Systems Science, with a minor in Human Resources Management. She conducts both laboratory and 􀏐ield research in areas such as occupational injury and accident prevention, and organizational culture and climate. Currently, her research interests involve organizational safety climate and culture in the trucking and utility industries. She has published more than 70 peer‐reviewed journal articles, 5 book chapters, and has had more than 90
conference presentations/proceedings. She has served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Accident Analysis and Prevention since 2007 and serves as a frequent reviewer for 7 other peer reviewed journals. As Guest Editor‐In‐Chief of Accident Analysis and Prevention, she organized a Special Issue on Safety Climate with Dr. Peter Chen (University of South Australia) and Dr. James Grosch (U.S. NIOSH). There were more than 30 manuscripts from 17 different countries submitted to this special issue which was published in September, 2010.
