“The Computer is the Patient’s Best Friend: The Role of Medical Informatics in Alleviating some of the Challenges Facing 21st Century Medicine”

The Health Management and Policy Department of the Drexel University School of Public Health welcomes Yuval Shahar, MD, PhD, to discuss his experience in the field of medical informatics and the role that it plays in improving the value of medical care and public health and in addressing the needs of the aging and those affected by chronic conditions. Dr. Shahar is a professor in Ben-Gurion University’s Information Systems Engineering Department and founder and chair of the university’s Medical Informatics Research Center.

*Dr. Yuval Shahar’s visit to Drexel University is supported by a grant from the Louis and Bessie Stein Family Fellowship for Exchanges with Israeli Universities program, awarded to Joan Bloch, PhD, CRNP of the College of Nursing and Health Professions. This is one event during a three-day Summit on ”Collaboration across Borders to Improve Health” focused specifically on health informatics.
